About the Artist
Mary taught elementary education for 20 yrs., all the while incorporating Art into as much of the curriculum as she possibly could. Today, her acrylic paintings no longer focus on Science or Social Studies. Instead, they focus on her love of gardening, or as she likes to call it “Living Art”, as well as those intangible things in life that she cherishes, like Peace, Love, & Happiness.
As time went on, it was suggested to Mary that she do "something" with all the paintings around her house. And that's exactly what she did!
Mary wanted to somehow use her paintings to help others. She came up with the idea of making greeting cards using photos taken of her paintings. Each month she selected a different charity to benefit from the sales of her handmade cards. Autism Speaks, for example, was the beneficiary from the sales of cards for the month of April.
This idea went over spectacularly! The positive feedback Mary received was the encouragement she needed to take her painting one step further. And that's how Splashed with Creativity was born.
Mary will continue to contribute a portion of the proceeds each month to a different charity. Nonprofit Pet Adoption organizations like As Good As Gold, was named as Splashed with Creativity's Charity of the Month for October.
Mary lives in Crystal Lake, IL, with her two lovable and very playful, Golden Retrievers, Sundance & Kodi.
